Our Mission

The most vital aspect of the work and mission of the Chorale is that of clearly expressing and communicating truth, while doing so with unaffected vibrancy and energy.

There is no such thing as an indifferent or amoral musical expression. Rather, all music speaks; all music objectively declares something. Either truth or falsehood is declared by means of musical expression, the declaration of truth serving to impart life and the declaration of falsehood serving to promote death. Music must reflect the nature and glory of Jesus Christ, for He authoritatively declares Himself to the be only Truth (John 14:6). All who reject Him and His Truth are said to love death (Proverbs 8:36). Therefore, those who create music as well as those who perform music must do so in accordance with the standard of truth which God imparted to mankind by means of His Word. This is a vitally important principle on account of the fact that only insofar as musical expression declares the objective truth of Scripture will it accomplish the purpose for which it was created and will men accomplish the purpose for which they were gifted with voices to sing. The purpose of all forms of musical expression is singular: the impartation of life, the life of Christ.

Christian life must be mediated in and through musical art. The effective mediation of Christian life is both the task as well as the desire of those who participate in the Fredericksburg Chorale.
